Updated over a week ago

Thanks for asking about Alpha for Prisons! Here are some next steps:

1 - Please connect with the Prison Chaplain.

Many correctional facilities across Canada are already running Alpha! Prison Chaplains oversee the faith-based programs and can help volunteers with the necessary application forms and scheduling.

2 - Download the Alpha for Prisons Mini Guide.

The Alpha videos are the same in any context (church, home, prisons, etc). However, there are additional resources to run Alpha in correctional facilities. This guide includes:

  • Why Run Alpha in a Prison?

  • How Can I Get Started?

  • Registration and Resources

  • FAQs

  • Top Tips for Running Alpha in Prisons

  • Working with Local Churches

  • Links to Federal & Provincial Forms

3 - Access All the Alpha Resources.

The Alpha videos are the same in any context (church, home, prisons, etc). Always register your Alpha to access the free downloadable training videos, weekly Alpha videos, emails with top tips, coaching support and more!

Please Note: Correctional facilities are unique and require special approval to bring in the Alpha videos. Please download the videos, and burn them onto a blank DVD or USB drive. Then give it to the Prison Chaplain or Staff for review and approval.

4 - Check the CSC website.

Additional training is required to be a volunteer within the Correctional Service of Canada. Please visit the CSC website for more information.

5 - Connect with our Alpha for Prisons Director.

If you plan to run Alpha in Prisons, please connect with our Alpha for Prisons Director, Sean Wilkinson, at prisons@alphacanada.org. We would be happy to assist you!

For more information, please visit the Alpha for Prisons webpage.
