What is the Couple Survey?
The Couple Survey is a series of 150 online questions to be completed separately by guests on The Pre-Marriage Course before the course begins. It is not a compatibility test. The purpose of the Couple Survey is to:
affirm areas of strength
highlight those issues the couple needs to discuss
help them make sure they are ready for marriage
provide a realistic view of what makes a marriage work
After the survey is completed, the couple will discuss the results with a designated Support Couple. The Couple Survey report guides the conversation, affirming areas of strength in the couple’s relationship and highlighting issues for discussion.
Please note: Couples do not receive the results of their Couple Survey. The link to the Couple Survey results expires 60 days after the last Pre-Marriage Course session.
What is a Support Couple?
Each couple on The Pre-Marriage Course is allocated a Support Couple. The requirements for Support Couples are simply that they:
are married
have completed The Marriage Course
are willing and available to host a couple (ideally in their home)
have been approved by someone with pastoral oversight (see the sample form that can be downloaded from the Course Builder for this signed approval)
During the evening, the Support Couple guides the guests in conversation using the findings of the Couple Survey which the guests would have completed before the start of the course.
The Couple Survey report is very easy to use with suggested follow-up questions for the Support Couple to ask the guest couple to facilitate the discussion.
Where can I find training for the Couple Survey?
After you log in to the Marriage Builder website and register your course, look for the "Supporting Tools" section. You will find 4 PDFs with suggested questions and sample surveys to read through.

How do I send the survey to the couples?
If you have already registered your current Pre-Marriage Course, you can invite Guest Couples in the tab called "Couple Survey."
Inform the couple to expect the following:
A separate email to each of them with a link to complete the Couple Survey.
They must create a password to complete the 20-minute Couple Survey.
Please do not consult your partner when completing the Couple Survey.
After submitting the survey, the report will be sent to your Support Couple.
The Support Couple will contact you to discuss the results.
This is not a compatibility test.
For privacy reasons, survey results will be deleted 60 days after the course end date.
After the couple completes the survey and clicks the "Send Report " link, an email will be sent to the Support Couple. The email will include a Couple Survey report. Please click on the report link to view the results. You can also log in to Marriage Builder to access the report.
Support Couples: Please review the survey report in Marriage Builder and do NOT save the report to your computer. The Couple Survey results will be deleted 60 days after the end of your course, according to Data Protection Regulations.
The Couple Survey Report should never be shared with the participating couple. (Please log in for Support Couple training videos.)
Why don't I have access to the Couple Survey results?
Due to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), we are only able to make Couple Survey reports available for 60 days following the last session of the Pre-Marriage Course. Unfortunately, we are not able to extend this.
Pre-Marriage Course leaders and admins need to take this into consideration when organizing the Support Couple meetings. Support Couples should also be reminded of this expiration.
If you are still within 60 days of your last session but cannot find the Couples Survey, please try using Google Chrome instead of Safari or other browsers.
