How can I run Alpha in fewer weeks?

shorter, fewer, cutting talks out, can't do all talks, less videos

Updated today

We recommend running Alpha over 11-12 weeks (or 8 weeks for Alpha Youth) to allow ample time for guests to explore, discover, and process the information. It also takes time for guests to build trust with each other and share openly and honestly.

It's best not to cut out any videos since each one builds on the other and together they provide a holistic experience and understanding. Watch the Intro to the Alpha Talks video here (2 min).

Ideally, we want to discuss one video per session. But if you are really pressed for time, here are a few ideas:

Option 1:

You could show the "Telling Others" video after Alpha is finished as an introduction to Home Groups for Alpha guests. You can follow it up with the Life Shared small group series (if they are Christians) and continue the conversation.

Option 2:

Guests can watch the video "How does God guide us?" on their own (send them the share link). This video includes content that is already covered in the other videos (Bible, Spirit, Church). Remember to discuss this next time you get together.

Option 3:

You could wait until you have a bit more time to run a full Alpha, and that way you won't feel rushed. Log in to watch this 3-minute video that explains why it's important to run all the Alpha talks.

Top Tip 👍 We always want to show the videos about the Holy Spirit before the video about evil. This sequence is strategic as we want Alpha guests to feel confident in the power and protection of God before learning about Satan and spiritual warfare. This is a key reason why the retreat is not at the end of Alpha.
